Urban Hospitality Courtyard
A hotel courtyard built into an existing urban site, giving a landlocked property a functioning outdoor centre.
The Site
A tight urban site with buildings on three sides. The courtyard needed to bring daylight and outdoor amenity into a plan with limited street frontage.
The Building
Guest rooms wrap the courtyard on two levels, so the pool and terrace became the building's shared outlook rather than a side amenity.
The Construction
Excavation for a sunken pool level, structural waterproofing and podium construction were phased to keep the surrounding hotel operational.
The Finished Environment
What was a service gap between buildings is now the property's most-used space — visible from the majority of guest rooms.
